Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame Announces 2009 Inductees Carrie Underwood, Ramona Reed

Best known for winning American Idol in 2005, Carrie Underwood has risen to become an award-winning singer and songwriter. The Checotah native has sold more than 11 million albums and produced 10 number one singles.
Talihina native Ramona Reed was a pioneer of western swing music. Dubbed the Cowboy’s Singing Sweetheart, Reed is also a prolific yodeler and has performed with the likes of Minnie Pearl, Roy Acuff and Hank Williams Sr.
Rocky Frisco is what you’d call a musician’s musician. The Tulsa native has played piano for some of the most revered musicians, such as Flash Terry, Clyde Stacy and Danny McBride.
All three inductees performed at the 13th annual induction ceremony, September 17, at the Muskogee Civic Center.
Established in 1995 in Muskogee, the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame pays tribute to Oklahomans who have had a big impact on the music industry. The first class of inductees was named in 1997‚ and several dozen musicians have been inducted since then. Inductees include Gene Autry‚ Roy Clark‚ Ronnie Dunn‚ Vince Gill‚ Woody Guthrie‚ Merle Haggard‚ Toby Keith‚ Roger Miller‚ Patti Page‚ Leon Russell and Lee Wiley. The Friends of Oklahoma Music presents the annual Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame induction ceremony each fall at the Muskogee Civic Center.
